Updating Messaging to Reflect the Growth of an Existing Program

Our Challenge

As a safety-net hospital, Denver Health is a trusted resource for all, including people experiencing poverty, the uninsured, pregnant teens, substance use issues, victims of violence, and unhoused populations. This healthcare system is an economic engine for our community, employing over 8,200 professionals dedicated to caring for Coloradans.

Denver Health leadership built a Workforce Development Center to support the success of its employees, including providing all Denver Health employees with opportunities to advance their careers within the integrated healthcare system. With the expansion of services in progress, Denver Health leaders needed to create new messaging to increase awareness while accurately reflecting the Center’s new direction.

Our Solution

After meeting with the Denver Health leadership team to understand their goals for the Center’s future, Barefoot PR scheduled a series of community conversations with Denver Health employees to understand current perceptions of the resource. In these conversations, Barefoot PR heard that many employees were unaware of what the Center could offer them. This finding identified an opportunity to simplify the Center’s messaging to appeal to a broader audience, from entry-level employees and C-suite leaders to external organizations that partner with Denver Health.

With this in mind, we developed an audience-specific messaging platform to support the Denver Health team in communicating with new and established employees and community partners about the center’s value. In addition to the platform, we also designed a two-sided one-pager with simplified key messages and calls to action in both English and Spanish to connect with employees throughout the citywide health system.

Results

One pagers were displayed and distributed across the Denver Health campus and Workforce Development Center.
