Second Nature, a member-based nonprofit dedicated to climate action in higher education, has grown in scale and complexity since its founding. As a result, their website no longer reflected the organization’s work. Barefoot PR’s challenge was to create clear engagement pathways for multiple tiers of potential members, simplify navigation and streamline years of content, all while maintaining existing custom-coded resources.

Barefoot PR collaborated with Second Nature to distill the most important goals for website visitors, reorganizing hundreds of pages worth of content into a more manageable site map. The new navigational structure emphasized ways for casual audience members to get involved with the organization while clarifying the network membership structure and requirements for prospective members. Multiple content types were combined as filterable libraries for ease of browsing, while custom resources such as their signature “Solutions Center” were maintained, but brought up to WCAG accessibility specifications. The resulting website is modernized, easily navigable and advances the organization’s current goals.
