Our Challenge

Rural Homes is a Colorado-based nonprofit housing developer specializing in affordable, first-time homeownership opportunities. With plans for expansion and new homes coming to market, Rural Homes enlisted Barefoot PR’s expertise to build a communications strategy that elevated their brand among potential homebuyers and partners looking to bring affordable housing to their community.

Our Solution

We developed a comprehensive Communications Roadmap with strategies to position Rural Homes as a subject matter expert among industry leaders, build recognition and trust with potential homebuyers, and foster a deeper understanding of their mission and impact.

The Roadmap included topics and story angles aligned with Rural Homes’ areas of expertise, along with recommendations for how those topics could be applied to speaking engagements and earned media opportunities, or used as themes for educational content, collateral and email updates to key audiences. We also outlined a social media strategy guided by the purposeful use of each platform and developed content pillars to reinforce their areas of expertise.

Following our presentation of the Roadmap, we also met with the Rural Homes team to provide guidance on updating their website to create a more seamless user experience that appeals to potential homebuyers, funders, municipalities and partners.
