Throughout my life, I’ve struggled with the concept of creativity. I thought being creative meant you had to be good at drawing or painting — skills that always eluded me. I certainly never considered myself an artist. But as I continued through school, I began to realize that creativity isn’t confined to traditional arts. My creativity found its expression through other activities, like writing, photography and even creating simple designs in Canva. During my primary school years, I felt most proud of myself during “free write” sessions, where I could let my imagination run wild on the page.
Despite my passion for writing, I initially chose to pursue a psychology degree when I entered college. It didn’t take long for me to realize this was not the right path — I needed something that aligned with my love for creativity and writing. I discovered the strategic communications major at CU Boulder, where I could focus on public relations. This allowed me to use my creative instincts to tell meaningful stories that make an impact.
My journey led me to classes and an incredible internship, both of which gave me the opportunity to work closely with several local nonprofits. This experience was transformative. I realized my creativity and writing skills could be used for a greater good. I found that I could channel my skills into helping organizations that make a difference in the community — a realization that felt like the perfect fit for my passions.
Now, as a PR Associate at Barefoot PR, I am thrilled to be in a role that allows me to combine my three biggest strengths and passions: creativity, writing and my deep care for all people. Being born and raised in Colorado, there’s nothing more fulfilling than using these skills to contribute to the community I love.
I am beyond excited to continue growing and learning at Barefoot PR, where I can bring my creativity to life, tell stories that matter and help purpose-driven clients make a positive impact.
