From Desert Trails to Purposeful Storytelling: Meet Barefoot’s Newest PR Associate

It’s wild to think back on the period of my life when I spent every day covered in dirt, swinging a pick mattock, transplanting yucca two times bigger than myself, befriending javelinas and tarantulas (from a distance), cooking every meal over a camp stove or fire, sleeping under the stars, and learning from the land and wildlife around me.

After graduating with a Marketing degree (minor in French) from the University of Missouri, I knew my next step needed to be outdoors and in service of the community. So, I moved out to the beautiful Sonoran Desert to Tucson, Arizona, where I spent half a year building trails, planting native flora, completing wildfire mitigation projects, and using my body and mind in service of the land and community around me. Those long days swinging tools on the trail under the desert sun changed my life. The trails showed me my purpose. After those seasons, I knew it was my calling to spend the rest of my life pouring my heart into cultivating sustainable and thriving communities in harmony with our environment.

From boots on the ground to strategic recruitment, outreach, marketing and communications management, I’ve since spent almost a decade working for mission-driven organizations across 3 states, telling their stories and sharing their impact widely.

I most recently worked here in Denver for Mile High Youth Corps, one of Barefoot PR’s previous clients. Collaborating with Barefoot PR in a client role was such an empowering and wonderful experience. I saw firsthand the expertise, attention to detail, intentionality, creativity and, most of all, care and heart that each person at Barefoot PR leads with. It was truly inspiring.

I’m now so excited to support clients on the Barefoot PR side! I can’t wait to continue elevating my community—helping organizations build themselves up and leave a unique legacy in their community. Just as I once built trails that helped people find their way through the desert, I now have the privilege of helping organizations find their way to the hearts of community members, discover their voices and share their impact with the world. I’m endlessly grateful for every experience that led me here and am beyond excited to continue using creativity, empathy and purpose to help shape a more compassionate and connected community—one story at a time.
