Integrating User Experience With an Association Management Software

Our Challenge

Following a messaging rework with Barefoot PR’s strategy team, Housing Colorado wanted to launch a new website with AMS (association management software) integration. The previous site was difficult to navigate and edit. It also lacked a personal flair that prevented members from interacting with the site and understanding the organization’s membership benefits.

Our Process

In tandem with our messaging process and community conversations, we began by investigating what was working with the old website and what wasn’t. Focusing on high-traffic pages like the Annual Conference page, we wanted the new site to be more approachable and showcase more imagery of current members.

Because we knew the new site had to stay integrated to the AMS, we worked with the Housing Colorado and Re:members teams to problem-solve how we could integrate pieces of the AMS, such as the events, with the site itself, while still allowing each to exist on its own.

Our Solution

Barefoot PR developed a fresh, professional and friendly member-forward website. The new site is separate from but still communicates with Housing Colorado’s AMS. With an emphasis on what the organization does and why membership is beneficial, the site is clearer, easier to navigate, and easier for the Housing Colorado team to edit. We focused on using member-focused imagery to personalize the site and create more opportunities to show the full breadth of events and opportunities members have access to.

Key Highlights

  • API connected events section
  • Member-submitted job board
  • Resource library
  • Clearer member benefits and offerings section
  • Intuitive UI for Housing Colorado’s internal team

“I really enjoyed the collaborative approach to both the messaging and website work we undertook. I felt like there was always a genuine openness to feedback and we found ways to incorporate that feedback into the final products.”
