Our Challenge
Through its ongoing partnership, Barefoot PR and Justice Necessary set out to make PeriodPalooza more than just a series of volunteer events. The goal was to turn it into a statewide movement and leverage this month-long campaign to raise visibility around period poverty, recruit volunteers across Colorado, highlight critical advocacy efforts, and celebrate a major milestone: the distribution of 2.5 million period products to students across the state.
The challenge was turning that multifaceted vision into coordinated, widespread action and garnering as much media attention as possible. Justice Necessary needed a trusted partner to build media momentum, drive community engagement, and create a consistent brand that resonated across the state.
Our Solution
Barefoot PR served as the communications engine behind PeriodPalooza, managing every element of the campaign’s public presence. We worked as an extension of the Justice Necessary team to bring this campaign to life. This included: event branding, marketing collateral, proactive media relations, talking points, social media content, and event-specific promotional materials that could be adapted for each city.
Barefoot PR led targeted media outreach across Colorado, securing coverage in every location where a PeriodPalooza event occurred. We positioned Justice Necessary and its community partners as subject matter experts on the issue of period poverty and removing barriers to student success.
Barefoot PR also led the effort to secure a statewide proclamation declaring May 28 as Menstrual Hygiene Day, building visibility and legitimacy for the campaign among elected leaders and the public.
