Charting a Path for Regional Thought Leadership

Our Challenge

Since 1977, Palmer Land Conservancy has been a trusted conservation partner for landowners and agricultural communities throughout Southern Colorado. With a loyal following and deep roots in the region, Palmer came to us to grow its donor base and establish the organization as a recognized thought leader throughout the Mountain West.

Our Solution

We recognized that Palmer had room to grow, even within the communities it already served. Reaching new audiences required strong messaging and accessible entry points for audiences who weren’t yet conservation-minded, ultimately making Palmer’s work more personal and relevant across new demographics.

Our recommendations were sequenced with intention, starting by re-establishing credibility with Palmer’s most familiar audiences before expanding thought leadership positioning into conservation-adjacent spaces. Earned media was a centerpiece of that strategy and we focused on developing story angles that would establish Palmer as a relevant, timely voice on local issues while building new media relationships that could deepen into long-term coverage opportunities. Beyond media, we identified opportunities for Palmer to show up where adjacent audiences already gather, like conferences, events and convenings, where they could participate as a peer or lead as a featured speaker.

Results

Across all of these recommendations, we built in ideas for leveraging storytelling and engagement opportunities that open doors to future ones, expanding Palmer's reach and credibility over time.
