Creating a High-Impact Communications Strategy for a Small Team

Our Challenge

Athena Project is a Denver-based nonprofit that empowers women to be leaders in the arts. Relying on a small team of volunteers to execute social media and media relations, Athena project challenged Barefoot PR to help them develop a strategy to reach their priority audiences and generate results.

Our Solution

After conducting a Strategy Session to dig into the organization’s history, needs and preferences, we performed a Communications Audit of current platforms and media outreach. Informed by our conversations and research, we developed a Communications Roadmap that outlined proactive/reactive media strategies and thought leadership in the arts. We also provided this small team with tools including an Editorial Calendar, Social Media Calendar and Story Collection Prompt to streamline communications efforts and increase efficiency. We concluded our work by training the team on how to use these tools and prioritize our recommendations based on time and resources.
