Building a messaging platform to inspire and engage prospective donors

Since its founding in 1974, Archway Communities has solidified its standing as a leading nonprofit housing organization in the Denver Metro Area. After a period of internal expansion and strategic planning, the organization was eager to tell its story, build its audience and inspire donors to support its growth. 

Archway partnered with Barefoot PR to build a foundation for storytelling with a messaging platform that was user-friendly, donor-focused and flexible enough to grow alongside the housing organization. This messaging would support Archway’s first year-end giving campaign.

After Barefoot PR facilitated a strategy session with Archway’s leadership team, we launched the listening and learning process. During this time, Barefoot PR’s strategy team engaged in conversation with various Archway stakeholders – funders, residents, community managers, and more – to learn the full scope of Archway’s impact directly from those closest to the work. 

This period of research, connection and conversation informed Barefoot PR’s Key Findings Report, which outlines the opportunities and challenges identified through the due diligence process. 

After presenting the Key Findings to the Archway team, Barefoot PR crafted a comprehensive messaging platform that provided internal and external partners with refreshed language to tell the Archway story. Notably, the platform outlined various donor specific messages that could engage a new community of supporters. 

After facilitating a feedback session with Archway staff and leadership, Barefoot PR finalized the platform and prepared to utilize the new language in a year-end fundraising campaign. 

Inspired by the platform’s language, “Archway to equitable housing,” our PR and Design teams put together a creative brief to outline potential concepts and deliverables for a year-end giving campaign. 

With leadership’s buy-in, the PR and Design team got to work building email templates, donor mailers and year-end giving copy to support the organization’s first ever year end giving campaign.
