Drafting future-focused messaging for the park and for the people

Since its founding in 2004, Civic Center Conservancy has been dedicated to the restoring, enhancing and activating Civic Center Park – Denver’s only Historic Landmark. As Denver has grown over the last 15+ years the Conservancy, too, has evolved its programming and partnerships to elevate and sustain the historic urban oasis as an iconic cultural and community hub for generations to come.

As the Conservancy looked ahead to its Next 100 years as caretaker and activator of Civic Center Park, it recognized the need for elevated messaging that would solidify its role as the park’s partner on a broader stage.

Barefoot PR began the messaging process by conducting a period of listening and learning with Civic Center Conservancy staff and board members to understand the historical context of the Conservancy and their goals for growth for the future. After combing through the Conservancy’s existing collateral and messaging materials, Barefoot PR conducted community conversations with board members, donors and park goers to understand their perception of the Conservancy and it’s role in the future of Civic Center Park

After these conversations, we delivered a research-based, future-focused messaging platform that organized the Conservancy’s organizational priorities and programs into three key pillars able to translate into a compelling tagline: For the Park, For the People and For the Future. The messaging platform also included overarching organizational messages designed to communicate the Conservancy’s purpose as an organization, position as a park partner, and vision for the future of this one-of-a-kind public gathering space.
