Prioritizing transparency and building trust through a website

OurChallenge

Years after Colorado’s Child Protection Ombudsman office was created, the Ombudsman wanted to make the office’s work more accessible to the public, more transparent to the professionals working within the child protection system, and more useful to the legislature and other elected officials. Following Barefoot PR’s work to build an audience-informed Messaging Platform, our team was hired to refresh the office’s brand and build a website that reduced page count, made reporting easy, and clearly explained the role the office plays in this complex system.

OurSolution

Using the Messaging Platform as inspiration, our team created a sitemap with very specific calls to action for the public, professionals working within the system and legislators. We eliminated a cumbersome case tracking system, instead opting for direct content to help those involved in cases get status updates without wading through complicated forms. We also added an advocacy section to highlight the Ombudsman’s role in making systemic change within the child protection system.
