Building inclusive digital communities through bilingual community management

Goodwill of Colorado’s The Excel Center launched in 2024 with a mission to provide tuition-free high school education for adult learners, helping them achieve their educational and career goals. As part of their launch strategy, Barefoot PR was engaged to build The Excel Center’s digital community trust, streamline communications and help drive enrollment. 

OurSolution

Barefoot developed a comprehensive digital community management strategy tailored to The Excel Center’s target audience. We began by creating a voice and tone guide aligned with Goodwill of Colorado’s values and customer service principles. Recognizing the significant Spanish-speaking demographic, we developed bilingual response templates for frequently asked questions, improving both response time and consistency. We also collaborated with The Excel Center team to ensure that the FAQ web pages (both English and Spanish versions) were updated as new frequently asked questions came in through social media channels. 

A key component of our approach included establishing social listening parameters to continuously inform and enhance content strategy and community engagement. Our overall integrated communications efforts, including community management, resulted in:

  • 100%+ enrollment goals reached for each session in 2024
  • Fewer repeat questions on social media, thanks to continually updated FAQs shaped by real-time community feedback
  • Increase in Spanish-language engagement following the implementation of bilingual tools
