OurChallenge
The Office of Respondent Parents’ Counsel (ORPC) website wasn’t easy to use for prospective contractors, families, or staff tasked with the site’s maintenance. It was also built with an out-of-the-box theme, which lacked the inspiration, clarity and agency that ORPC hoped website users would find there. Finally, ORPC required separate functionality for some of their contractors, requiring separate sign-ins and permissions.
OurSolution
After successfully rebranding ORPC, Barefoot PR used the government agency’s fresh digital assets to create a custom theme for a new WordPress site. The look and feel of the site better reflects the deeply personal work of helping families faced with separation from their children, uses more images of people and communicates a hopeful visual tone.
Barefoot incorporated separate calls to action at the top of the homepage so ORPC’s differing site visitors could quickly navigate to the area of the site built with them in mind. The first directs families toward resources and explains what to expect during dependency and neglect proceedings, offering families clarity during a time of immense uncertainty. The homepage hero also addresses potential contractors, including family defense attorneys, making the website a more effective recruiting tool and directing a key audience to the information they need most. Behind a user sign-in, the site offers resources and contact information that in a future state will be able to be updated by each individual user, reducing the maintenance burden on the team.
The finished site is more personable and concise and offers clear calls to action to key audiences.
