Branding Denver’s nonprofit community

OurChallenge

Serving as a liaison between the City of Denver and its nonprofit sector, the Denver Office of Nonprofit Engagement (D-ONE) has always recognized the critical role nonprofits play as partners in solving some of Denver’s most challenging problems. To support Barefoot PR’s work to build a public awareness campaign, our design team was challenged to build a brand that could stand alongside the City & County of Denver’s brand, while also speaking to the breadth of Denver’s strong nonprofit community.

OurSolution

Barefoot PR’s design team took its cues from the campaign plan for Nonprofit Strong that encouraged channeling the spirit of a social movement. The team also drew inspiration from D-ONE’s acknowledgment of the gaps the nonprofit sector fills in our city, and the three audiences of the campaign – government, philanthropy and business. 

The final logo includes a circle connected by three color sections, representing the three audiences the campaign targets. The brand colors were inspired by the beautiful cozy winter sunsets we all enjoy in the city of Denver. In addition, the team developed icons to represent the three key audiences of the campaign. This strong visual brand provided the foundation for cross-platform messaging that included print and digital ads, postcards, flyers, email communication and a new website.
