As a Content Associate, you will help our team tell client stories by developing compelling content for newsletters, blogs, social media, op-eds, byline articles, award nominations and more. Your understanding of building culturally relevant messaging and content will inform our work with nonprofits, foundations, government agencies and socially-responsible businesses. You will also support the team by auditing our clients’ existing communications platforms, supporting our work to build editorial calendars, communications plans, and messaging. Our team members will work with both nonprofit and for-profit clients. The keys to your success in this role are curiosity, strong writing skills and attention to detail. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drafts compelling press releases, pitches, announcements, talking points, award nominations, blogs, byline articles, website content, etc.
  • Supports development of key messages and voice/tone guides
  • Supports Communications Planning/Campaign Development processes
  • Researches issues and trends related to clients, their expertise and their industry
  • Keeps up with best practices and techniques for storytelling, including asset-framing and culturally relevant content creation
  • Participates in client meetings, reporting and relationship building
  • Works in collaboration with the team to ensure work is tracked and deliverables are met for each client

Job Requirements 

  • Excellent writing skills and working knowledge of AP Style
  • 1-3 years of PR/marketing experience, media relations experience preferred
  • Ability to write for both English- and Spanish-speaking audiences, and the ability to translate messaging and content effectively in both English and Spanish is a plus
  • Experience using a media database, social media management platforms (Sprout Social preferred), Google Drive
  • Understanding of a broad array of communications tactics including media relations, email marketing, digital engagement, content creation, etc.
  • Ability to solve problems and find answers to tough questions
  • Driven to deliver a high quality product, to support team members in their success and help grow the business
  • A commitment to volunteer service and community involvement

  • NOTE: This is an in-person position located at Barefoot PR’s office near Downtown Denver

Compensation

  • $45,000 – $55,000 (based on experience), with bonus potential
