As a Senior PR Specialist – Strategy, you will lead our work to build communications plans and campaigns for nonprofits, government agencies and socially responsible businesses. Our team will rely on you for recommendations that help our clients connect with and influence their target audiences like Subject Matter Expert development, paid and organic digital strategy, media relations, content creation, events, partnerships and and other creative communications tactics. You will also audit existing communications platforms and set measurable goals for the strategies we recommend. As part of the larger Strategy team, your crisp writing and sharp editing skills will support our work to build audience-informed messaging and content for clients. The keys to your success in this role are strategic thinking, strong writing skills, and research.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Leads Communications Planning/Campaign Development processes, partnering with the Director of Strategy to ensure they meet Barefoot PR’s standards
  • Serves as a Client Lead for Communications Plans/Campaign Development projects, responsible for new client onboarding calls, scheduling, progress updates, relationship management and ensuring the team has the information/details they need to be successful
  • Participates in listening/learning, conducts communications audits, builds key findings based on research, sets goals/identifies metrics
  • Contributes to the Messaging process, taking a lead on messaging for campaigns
  • Responds to client issues quickly and finds creative solutions/proactively identifies potential issues and suggests pivots
  • Serves as Barefoot PR’s Subject Matter Expert on Communications Strategy, consulting with the team, mentoring associates, blogging and participating in training
  • Provides guidance to PR team on goals and metrics as outlined in Communications Plans, keeps an eye out for information/ideas that can help them implement ideas in the Plan ongoing
  • Supports team needs as requested (i.e. press releases, awards, content creation, event support, website content and other tactics essential to the firm’s work)

Job Requirements 

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in PR/communications/marketing, nonprofit experience is preferred
  • Expert writing and editing skills, with a mastery of AP Style
  • Bilingual (Spanish – English) is a plus
  • Understanding of a broad array of communications tactics including media relations, advertising, email marketing, digital engagement, content creation, etc.
  • Ability to solve problems and find answers to tough questions
  • Driven to deliver a high quality product, to support team members in their success and help grow the business
  • A commitment to volunteer service and community involvement

Compensation

  • $55,000 – $70,000 (based on experience), with bonus potential
